FAQs Asked of Our Pediatric Dentist in Wichita, KS
When should my children begin seeing a dentist?
Typically, we recommend bringing your children in as soon as you feel they are ready. The younger they are, the sooner we can begin building healthy oral hygiene habits.
How can we help to prevent dental injuries?
There are a number of helpful steps you can take to help prevent dental injuries, including the following:
- Mouth guards should be used when your child is involved in sports because it will help to protect the teeth, lips, cheeks, and gums. We can custom fit a soft, plastic mouth guard for your child during an appointment.
- Always use a car seat and buckle up your child.
- Child-proof your home as much as possible to help prevent choking, injuries, and falls.
- Bring your child in for regular dental visits to help prevent unnecessary toothaches and dental conditions.
My child’s tooth was knocked out. What should I do?
The first thing you need to do is call our office immediately. Next, you will need to find the tooth and, holding it by the crown (not the root), try to put the tooth back into the tooth socket. Hold it there with a washcloth. If you cannot place the tooth back in your child’s mouth, then put it in a clean container of milk or water. The sooner you bring your child and the tooth to us, the better chance we have of saving the tooth.
